Acer has announced the launch of its newest Liquid Smartphone in Bangkok, Thailand. The new Acer Liquid C1 also happens to be the company’s first Intel-powered Smartphone which was hinted over a year ago. Approximately one year ago, Acer hinted that it would be releasing a smartphone powered by Intel’s processors and here it is finally.
The Liquid C1 is powered by Intel’s Lexington-based Atom Z240 processor which clocks at 1.2GHz, It’s a single-core CPU with support for Hyper-Threading and delivers a reasonable performance for a really great price. The handset comes equipped with a 4.3-inch IPS touchscreen display with a 960×540 resolution, features an 8-megapixel camera with auto focus and runs the Android Ice Cream Sandwich operating system.
Acer decided to initially launch the Liquid C1 in Bangkok because of its young mobile user audience, according to Uday Marty, Intel’s managing director for Southeast Asia. It runs Android 4.0 right out the box but there’s no word of future plans for any updates.
Acer kicks off sales of the Liquid C1 in Thailand this February for the price of 9,990 baht or about $335.27, then off to other South Asian countries.
